Rotary kiln lime is used to soften water. Hard water requires more soap and synthetic detergents for home laundry and washing, and it contributes to scaling in pipes, appliances, and industrial equipment.
Mississippi Lime, was awarded the contract that was approved through Council in 2021 for the providing of this commodity as a result of an invitation to bid (ITB). This request is for approval of expenditures for the Water Department for the commodity of rotary kiln lime.
Approval of this item authorizes change orders up to ten (10) percent of the authorized amount, providing appropriations are available. |

The fiscal impact to the City totals $1,749,897.90. Funding will be included in the fiscal year 2023-2024 proposed budget, page 253, account number (4840-5314), Water Fund 040.
