Council action is requested to issue a purchase order to Olathe Ford in the amount of $58,060, for a ¾ Ton Pickup Chassis for the Sanitary Sewer Division of the Municipal Services Department.

The Sanitary Sewer Division of Municipal Services is needing an ¾ ton chassis for a service body that has been sitting at Knapheide for several months. This unit was originally ordered in 2021 and was later canceled by Ford due to production issues. We had located a 2023 chassis from them but when it went to Knapheide, Ford would not authorize putting the service body on the STX chassis. The Fire Department paid for & took possession of that F250 for their operations. The Sanitary Sewer Division of Municipal Services is still working to source the chassis needed for the 8 ft service body, so this will be ordered via the 2024 model year order bank. This unit will be used in daily construction & maintenance operations of the I&I/Collections Division.

The dealer for this this purchase is Olathe Ford. The contract used for this purchase is the Mid-America Council of Public Procurement Cooperative Contract.

Per section 8.06.004, Paragraph 4 of the City Code states competitive bidding is not required when purchases are made through a cooperative contract established by a government purchasing entity or cooperative. The cooperative bids used will have been established pursuant to RSMo. 70.220 or generally accepted governmental purchasing practices through the competitive bidding process.

The fiscal impact to the City is $58,060. Funding was available in the 2022-2023 adopted budget, page 168, Municipal Services Sanitary Fund (030), account number (5230-5406 and 5230-6404) Equipment.
