Council action is requested to issue a purchase order for $240,000.00 to WEG Transformers USA LLC. (WEG), for Power Distribution Transformers, for the Power & Light Department.

Power and Light (IPL) uses pole mount and pad mount transformers to convert the high 'primary' voltage of the overhead or underground distribution lines to the lower 'secondary' or 'utilization' voltage inside the building. The primary distribution wires use the three-phase system. The transformers are divided into three groups as follows: Group 1 – Pole Mount; Group II – Single Phase Pad Mount; and Group III – Three Phase Pad Mount. The transformers are used in establishing new electrical service and for the replacement of defective units.

IPL entered into a contract with WEG as a result of an invitation to bid which was approved by Council in 2021.

Approval of this item authorizes the Finance Director to issue change orders up to a total of ten (10) percent of the original authorized amount, so long as appropriations are available.

The fiscal impact to the City is $240,000.00. Funding for Power Distribution Transformers is included in the fiscal year 2023-2024 proposed budget, page 242, account number (6122-5314), Warehouse Inventory, IPL fund 20.
