| | | | | | | | Agenda Title:
Council action is requested to issue a purchase order for $139,859.10 with Motorola Solutions Inc for radios for the Fire Department. |
| | | | | | | | Recommendations:
Council approval to issue a purchase order. |
| | | | | | | | Background:
Portable and mobile radios are an essential part of the Fire Department’s personal protective equipment (PPE). With approval of the Fire Protection Sales Tax, the department will need to add to their number of radios for future expansion and to finalize replacement of older, outdated radios. These radios meet all requirements for the Kansas City Regional Radio System to provide interoperability across the metro area. The multicharger/reconditioner will also help to extend the life cycle of the batteries for future savings.
The purchase order was issued against the MARC/KCRPC contract #34733, off of RFP # 83.
Per section 8.06.004, Paragraph 4 of the City Code states competitive bidding is not required when purchases are made through a cooperative contract established by a government purchasing entity or cooperative. The cooperative bids used will have been established pursuant to RSMo. 70.220 or generally accepted governmental purchasing practices through the competitive bidding process.
Approval of this item shall authorize change orders up to a total of ten (10) percent of the authorized amount, provided appropriations are available.
