Contract with Life Scan Wellness Centers for the Mandatory Annual Physicals for all Fire Fighters in the City of Independence for $137,592.00.

The City Council previously authorized a one-year agreement with three, one-year renewal periods with SiteMed North America LLC for Physicals for personnel within the Fire Department. Since that time, it was determined SiteMed was unable to perform the required scope of work.  The 2023-24 approved budget included $160,000 for annual physicals. Due to timing and contractual requirements, Life Scan Wellness Centers was engaged to complete the physicals this year for $137,592. This resulted in a budget savings of $22,408. Staff will bring forward a contract for City Council consideration with Life Scan Wellness Centers for physicals in future years.  

Through the collective bargaining process the City of Independence and IAFF Local #781 have agreed to the Annual Mandatory Physicals for all members of the Independence Fire Department.

The fiscal impact to the City is $137,592.00 for the Mandatory Annual Physicals for all Independence Fire Fighters.  This has been budgeted in the 2023/2024 Adopted Fiscal Budget, page 208 in the Fires Sales Tax Fund (017), account number 0174671-5226 in the amount of $160,000.00.
