Restoration of Reclaim Basin No. 1 is necessary at the Courtney Bend Water Treatment Plant. Work to be performed by this project is cleanout, excavation, and grading of the basin’s earthen structure. This work is necessary to enable the utilization of the basin for the water treatment plant’s operation. The structure is an integral component of the facility’s operation and reliability.
The Courtney Bend Water Treatment Plant to supplies the entire City of Independence and a significant portion of the Eastern Kansas City metro area with potable water. The reclaim basin is essential to the sustainable operation of the facility. Executing this project is essential to the department’s mission of providing an adequate supply of potable water.
The Procurement Division issued an Invitation to Bid (ITB) #23105 on November 8, 2023, for Courtney Bend Water Treatment Plant Reclaim Basin (1) Restoration. The ITB was published through the Public Purchase e-procurement website, which notified (259) potential bidders; (12) accessed the ITB.
The ITB closed on November 28, 2023. One bid was received by Reed Environmental LLC. After staff review, one of the two lines requested to be bid on, for $194,400 is requested to be awarded.
This project is planned and budgeted in the Water Fund's Capital Improvement Projects fund.
Approval of this item authorizes the Finance Director to issue change orders up to a total of ten (10) percent of the original authorized amount, so long as appropriations are available. |
